RE: Summer Picnic

May 2006

May 13, 2006 was the Pro Vintage Racing Members summer Picnic.  We always take this opportunity to discuss items with the members, answer questions and talk about the upcoming season.

This year was no exception.  As you know, PVR has gone through quite a few changes in the board / staff positions.  We discussed the open seats and about voting for the new board members.  Watch the webpage & FORUM for updates regarding the voting dates & process….more on that to come.

PVR also took this opportunity to announce the addition of the First of many events for the 2007 season.  Strum, WI will be the host of a PVR Vintage Oval Event this year.  Dates are not announced yet, since we have other events pending and also want to see what else is scheduled, so not to conflict with other events.  We think the members will be pleasantly surprised with the schedule for 2007.

The CLASSES have also been announced for 2007.  You will see that PVR has added a Junior Class to their lineup.  This is a first for PVR, and is evidence that when the members speak, their voice is heard.  We are trying very hard to continue in the tradition of PVR, and provide what is best for all members alike.  This is not always an easy task, since there are many other promoters / events that our members also attend.  Nobody wants to change their sled every weekend, so we must consider all the other venues when setting our classes and rules beforehand.   I’m sure everybody knows the saying “The quickest way to failure is to try to please everybody”.  We did what we believe will work best for PVR & Vintage Racing.

In closing, all the members should thank Kurt & Elizabeth Andrews and Bill & Becky Stull for their willingness to take on the PVR duties.  If you’ve ever worked in event promotion, you will know this is a thankless position.  We can’t say “Job” because none of these people get a dime for their efforts.  This is all volunteer time, taken away from their families, jobs and leisure.  So instead of complaining about the “JOB” they may be doing, consider “Thanking” them for the volunteer efforts and willingness to donate their time, so we all have a place to race.  Remember, comments are always welcome at PVR, but please remember the PVR members are doing this for you.

As always, watch the website for details.
